You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot help small men by tearing down big men. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot lift the wage-earner by pulling down the wage-payer. You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot establish security on borrowed money. You cannot build character and courage by taking away men's initiative and independence. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.

Here is one of my favorite inspirational quotes. I find it empowering and it helps me to focus on making things better and moving in a positive direction. -Todd
Hi Todd,
Thanks for sharing. I appreciate you taking the time to add one of your favorite quotes. William Boetcker's message was originally entitled "The Ten Cannots". He was a motivational speaker and often considered the forerunner of modern day success coaches.
It's a powerful quote and it really emphasizes personal responsibility. If we want to make a change in life the best place to start, is with ourselves. Gandhi said it simply with...“You must be the change you want to see in the world.” I think that sums up the message into one nice sentence.
Boetcker is also known for sharing what he called the "Seven National Crimes"
I don’t think. I don’t know. I don’t care. I am too busy. I leave well enough alone. I have no time to read and find out. I am not interested.
A pretty insightful and interesting person. Once again thanks for sharing and helping to spread the inspiration.
