The Free Hugs campaign started at the arrivals terminal in Sydney, Australia. After arriving at the airport with no one to welcome him back, Juan saw the other passengers being welcomed home with hugs, smiles, and laughter.

Juan got the idea and started Free Hugs, which quickly spread from Australia across the world.
